Secrets of effective interview thank you notesAnd that's the first point -- effective interview thank you letters are always sent immediately after the interview. On the same day or at latest, the very next day. No waiting beyond that. Who do you send thank you notes to? To every person from the company who interviewed you. Send individual letters to every interviewer. Your effort in this follow-up thank you letter is twofold. First, you're seeking to re-emphasize your skills and strengths and how they fit in with the employer's needs. Second, it's one more opportunity to get your presence in front of all interviewers. Top of mind recall is an amazingly potent influence at times. For example, if one or more other candidates is perceived to be as good as you are, then your follow-up letter may well be an important differentiator. The note you send should express your interest in the job on offer. Mention -- very briefly -- the job description and one or two skills you have that can help them fill the need well. Thank the interviewers for their time. Let them know that if they need any additional information after the interviewing process, you'll make it available. Conclude by saying you look forward to hearing from them soon. Take this simple step after interviews and you'll be ahead of the pack in the race for your dream job!
Like to think a little out-of-the-box? Here's an idea -- consider doing work on a freelance basis, either part-time or full-time. There are actually large numbers of people who work from the comfort of their homes. And very profitably too. But you do face one big problem -- connecting with companies that have work to offer.
